Paris edition! fashion week, vintage shopping + a proposal
Hi my beautiful humans!! I hope everyone is having a lovely week <3 I just returned from a 12 day work trip (turned vacation) in Europe and we are very due for a catch-up!
This is Recently - a photo diary series where I share recommendations and favorites as of late.
This fashion week, I had the pleasure of attending Willy Chavarria’s SS27 Comunión runway at Espace Niemeyer - arguably one of the most beautiful brutalist buildings in the world. My fiancé (!) was handling the invitation and I audibly squealed when I went to call our car and realized the location - it’s been on my architecture wishlist forever, and is mostly open only for private events.
The show did not disappoint. I’m taking color inspiration, even as a girl who mostly wears black and white!
Besides a visit to Espace Niemeyer, our trip ended up being pretty jam packed and I didn’t get much art or architecture time in. As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Paris was HOT! 100 degree+ weather meant we were conserving energy where we could, but I’m sure we’ll be back soon!
A major trip highlight was an intimate Antwerp Six talk at Dover Street Market in partnership with Momu Museum. I had to be a fan and get a photo with Walter…. and then immediately after ran into An of A.F. Vandevorst! All the Belgian idols in one place :’)
I met An years ago when I was running my brand, and I’ll never forget how kind she and her partner Filip were to me. She has been supportive ever since <3 Although A.F. Vandevorst is now shuttered - and resale prices have gotten insane - they’ve re-released their iconic boots in a limited run!
Another favorite was Magliano’s SS27 presentation, staged as a dinner party in a cigarette smoke-filled dining room at Chez Maxim’s. I loved the casting. The team took inspiration for the collection from staff member’s family photo albums from the 70s.
On a day off, I was able to sneak in some vintage flea market shopping with friends, and went home with a big set of steak knives for 10 euros.
After fashion week, we met up with Siggy’s family for a couple days and he PROPOSED with a vintage emerald and diamond ring from his grandmother at Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. It was perfect <3
Having an estranged family dynamic myself, there’s something so special about the gesture of an heirloom to start our next chapter.
After some family time, we booked a few days for ourself in Vernazza before heading back home. It was my first time in Italy! I’ll share more in a later post <3
